Welcome to the lab of mechanics of soft materials and flexible structures led by professor Zheng Jia at the Department of Engineering Mechanics at Zhejiang University. Our research goal is to understand the underlying mechanics, physics and chemistry of soft materials and flexible structures and explore their applications in advanced technologies such as soft robotics, energy storage, and advanced manufacturing. Research interests of our group include:
- Mechanics of soft materials: constitutive models of soft materials, deformation and failure mechanism of hydrogels, conductive elastomers and gels, anisotropic hydrogels, soft composites, highly deformable electrode materials for Li/Na batteries
- Mechanics of flexible structures and devices: soft ionotronics and machines (e.g. ionic skins, triboelectric nanogenerators), stretchable conductive structures, flexible electrodes for batteries, chemomechanically-driven devices and machines.
